October Schnibbling

Last night, my friend, Diana and I went Schnibbling and Quilt Shop Hopping to the Holiday Shop Hop "Fall Frenzy" that's going on this weekend throughout Utah and Salt Lake Counties. We left at 4:00pm hoping to make it to at least 4 or 5 shops but, only visited 3 shops before our class at 6:30pm at Thimbles and Threads. The TRAFFIC and TALKING slowed us down. lol.

I probably won't have time to visit any more shops today because I'm trying to finish up a few projects and get to the post office to mail a few things. and tomorrow we are taking the kids, grandkids, and neighbor kids out to Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point.

I will have to see about Saturday. Oh, but, I have laundry and cleaning to do....darn. I will have to get busy.

Here are a few pictures from last night and as you can see we have a few headless quilts. I'm afraid that a few of the ladies are totally shy but, I can relate. Did you see me in any of the pictures. lol. I made Diana hold my quilt so I could get a picture of it. hehehe.

This is one of the newest Schnibbles Patterns called "Jack"

This one is called Hot Cross.

This one is called Plan C.

I'm sorry but I don't know the name of this one and couldn't find it on the Schnibbles website.

This is my version of Roundabout.
It only took me two months to find the time to finish it.
Now I just need to quilt it.

Thanks Diana for holding my quilt so I could get a picture of it.

Here are a few extra things that Sandra brought to show us. She will be teaching this beautiful Dresden Tablerunner at Winterfest (please correct me if I'm wrong, thanks).

More Schnibbling

I can't believe it's the end of the month. Where did it go? It's just flown by around here and I'm afraid that there hasn't been much happening in my craft room this month. It's been crazy busy at work so I come home exhausted and too tired to start anything. I have finished reading 3 books and have started a 4th one. I like to read at night before I go to bed and during my lunchtime break at school. What books have you been reading lately?

Anyway. Here are some pictures from our Schnibbles group that met earlier this month. Enjoy!

By the way this pattern is called "JOY LUCK"

Let's Play Checkers Pattern. Do you see the pocket in the bottom left hand corner of the quilt in the picture above. It holds the checkers.

A Schnibbling We'll Go. . .

Last month my friend Diana and I joined a group of Schnibbling Ladies at Thimbles and Threads. Our group meets monthly. I've seen all the schnibble inspiration around blog land for quite a while now so I thought I'd finally get in on the FUN.

I had good intentions on getting my quilt done this last month but it's summer and it's been filled with fun and other important deadlines. I though I'd have time to finish it up before class last night but we're leaving for Oregon this morning and I was doing housework, laundry, and packing for our trip.

I decided to use Lizzy House by Anna Griffith for Baum Textiles. I also added in a few other great fabrics for a total of 21 prints. I fell in love with this fabric. It's just so cute and happy!

Here are a few pictures of my progress. . .

For those of you who don't know what Schnibble quilts are you can find out more about them by checking out this BOOK by Carrie Nelson. Carrie also has an assortment of individual patterns for small quilts using 5" and 10" squares. You can also visit the official website HERE.

Schnibble: noun - A scrap of fabric; a leftover bit of cloth; a small piece. The word has a German origin and is found primarily in German settlements in the Midwest.

From the Dictionary of American Regional English published by the Harvard University Press

Now on to the Schnibble's Parade. . .

Here's my friend Diana with her Schnibbles Roundabout Quilt.

This cute gal above made these darling pin cushions and yoyo bracelet.
She belongs to the YoYo Mama's group at Material Girls.

I love this Schnibbles pincushion made out of an assortment of Christmas Fabric.

When I get back from Our Family Reunion I will have plenty of pictures to share with all of you. Also, when I get back I will have just a week left of summer before school starts on the 25th of August so I will be spending my last big bulk of time sewing, quilting, and creating. I have a few things up my sleeve.

While I'm gone I will have limited access to a computer so I probably won't be blogging until I get back but, don't be surprised if I drop in and leave comments here and there. I love trying to keep up with everyone. Keep Keeping On!!!
