Dessert Time!

It's Day Four. . .

You just gotta have Dessert at a PARTY! I sure love a GOOD Dessert and I can tell you like them too because of all the wonderful desserts that you brought to the party. Now it's time to eat, visit, and enjoy our time together. Aren't you glad that you can have all the dessert you want? You know it has ZERO calories too! So, eat up! Just don't go into the kitchen and make anything, especially if it's late at night. I don't want to be responsible for sabotaging anyone's dieting efforts.

Tell me what's your favorite kind of cake or dessert. The kind that you would make for a special occassion and you will be entered into today's giveaway. I love recipes too if you'd like to share.

My Sister-in-law gave me this recipe and I wanted to share it with you, it's one our family's favorite Chocolate Cake Recipes. Here it is . . .

ENJOY!

  • 1/2 Cup Buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • 1 1/2 Cups Mini Marshmallows

Instructions:
Combine first 3 ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the butter melts. Remove from heat. Combine flour, sugar, baking soda in a large bowl, stir in butter mixture. Add eggs and stir until blended. Stir in buttermilk, vanilla, and marshmallows. Pour into a lightly greased 9”x13” baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Remove from oven; spread frosting over warm cake. Makes 12 servings.

Coca-Cola Chocolate Frosting

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 1/4 Cup Cocoa
  • 1/3 Cup Coca-Cola Soft Drink
  • 3 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
  • 1 Cup Chopped Pecans
Instructions:
Combine first 3 ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the butter melts. Remove from heat, stir in powdered sugar, vanilla, and pecans. Spoon over the cake immediately.

A glass of milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream is a must have with the warm yummy chocolate cake. It's also really good the next day. I like to put it in the refrigerator and have it cold.

I'm sure you're wondering about the today's prize. Well, it's almost done but I ran out of time and energy for the night so you'll have to trust me that it's cute and that you'll just love it! I have to work in the morning and I won't be able to post it until tomorrow after work. Please forgive me but, I will get it done. Thanks for your understanding of LIFE!

I look forward to seeing what favorite desserts you make for your friends and family.

  1. A piece of the Coca Cola Chocolate pie a la mode is prize enough...LOL

My favorite kind of dessert is a 10" square layer cake - Moda style. It's available anywhere, anytime and in any color.

  2. I love the coca cola cake, too. For my daughter's birthday she always wants me to make her favorite chocolate cake. It's half a box of Duncan Hines chocolate cake mix and half a box of Duncan Hines Spice cake mix. I mix it according to the package instructions and pour it into a bundt cake pan. Then I make the Coca Cola Cake Frosting and drizzle it all over the cake. What I like about it is that I still have half of a package of each cake mix left over for another time.

My other favorite dessert is Italian Cream Cake. It came from Southern Living Magazine, but I have it on my blog. Just look on my sidebar under Recipes.

Yes, I understand about life. When you look at my blog I haven't posted since March 2. It's been so busy around here.

    I love your parties!

  3. My favorite thing happens to be dessert, lol. One of my family's favorite desserts is call a Better Than Sex Cake. It's a chocolate cake baked per the directions on the package, then when it comes out you pretty much destroy the top then you pour Smuckers Caramel and Smuckers Chocolate Fudge topping over the cake while it is still warm to soak into the cake and you leave a little bit in the jars for later. After you dump the sauces on the cake you let it cool completely you spread a thawed Cool Whip over it the large size, now remember the left over sauce? Drizzle the remaining over the cool whip and then refrigerate and voila a BTSC is done.

Believe it or not, but one of my favorite desserts is your mint brownie recipe. When I first started reading blogs you published that post and I made them and was IN TROUBLE! I have to give them away to neighbors when I make a pan or I would eat the whole thing!

  21. While I'm a big chocolate nut, I have come to love a pineapple cake that I think originated with Weight Watchers. You take a package of angel food cake mix and a 20 ounce can of pineapple. Mix them both together with an electric mixer. Then back according to the package directions. You can put non-fat Cool Whip on top when serving. It is very easy to make...very tasty...and is also very low-fat (almost to the point of being non-fat). If you make cupcakes, there is less than 70 calories per serving. Try it...you might like it. (I'm thinking it could be made with another kind of canned fruit, too...and will have to try that...maybe peaches??) Don't worry about no picture...we trust that ANY prize you offer is a great one!

  22. My favorite dessert would be Italian Cream Cheese Cake. It is also my husband's favorite. The first time I had this cake was years and years ago at a family reunion. My Aunt Betty made it and it was so scrumptious! She gave me the recipe (I would post it, but I'm at work and it isn't with me!), and it has become a family favorite. In fact, it is what I always make for my husband on his birthday. This cake is not only delicious, but it brings back special memories of family that is no longer with us.

  24. My favorite summertime dessert is Mandarin Orange Dessert, a yummy creamy orange dessert. For any other time it would have to be Chocolate Cream Dessert, a cake, cream cheese, pudding and whipped cream layers that is so yummy but easy to fix. I will email this one to you if you like, as it surely it a winner.

  27. My favorite dessert is "sticky date pudding with toffee sauce". It comes from the Dalvay House in Prince Edward Island. That is where all the hotel scenes are shot in the movie "Anne of Green Gables". The dessert is a rich, , moist cake cut into squares. A warm, thick, creamy toffee sauce is poured on top, and soaks into the gooey cake. With each bite, you swirl your piece of cake into the toffee sauce and enjoy an explosion of happiness. Even better when served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which melts into the cake. Can you taste it yet? 28. Desserts shouldn't be my favorite food category but they are so I tend to have a lot of favorites. Don't have the recipes with me today but I have one for the "worlds' best carrot cake" that has 2 cups of a butter/sugar mix poured all over it before the cream cheese frosting and a peanut butter mousse cake that is to die for. Wish I could share these with all you sharing bloggers out there.

  29. My favorie cake is butterfinger cake. Use a dark chocolate cake mix and make as directed. As soon as it comes out of the oven poke holes with the handle of a wooden spoon all over the top. Pour butterscotch ice cream topping over the top. When it is completely cool, cover with a 12oz cool whip. Just before you are ready to serve crush two large butterfinger candy bars and spread on top. Enjoy!

  31. My favourite dessert is just a plain ol' angel food cake topped with peaches (canned is okay) and fresh raspberries with a dollop of whipped cream. This is one we like to serve at a bbq in the summer. I'm dreaming of summer (even with all the snow here) so it seemed appropriate.

  32. How interesting, a Coca Cola cake! I have never heard of that before. Definately one I will have to try.

Growing up my mom made an ice cream cake for our birthdays and now I carry on that tradition in my family.

  33. I love to bake and prefer something chocolatey. My most recent blog post features a TOLL HOUSE PIE! We just finished off the second one of those! Soo good and sooooo easy! Another favorite is chocolate caramel brownies. I am easy to please when it comes to sweets. :D

  34. I LOVE pecan pie and that's what I would choose for my birthday celebration, only no one else in the family likes it so I'm left eating the WHOLE thing....NOT GOOD....so, I usually only have it when dining out IF the restaurant has it...not many do...the better for me I think LOL>

  35. My favorite dessert is....so hard to choose just one! I think if I had to pick it would just be a simple brownie sundae. I love a good, moist brownie topped with mint choc. chip ice cream and choc. syrup. I love other desserts and the fancy ones are fun and special, but the brownie sundae is a tried and true favorite that I never tire of. I've also never met anyone who didn't like them (as long as there are a couple of choices for ice cream) so it is a fail-safe dessert for large groups. Thanks for the Coca-Cola cake recipe. I will definitely be trying that one!

my very favorite dessert is a Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. it's a recipe in a local cookbook from our area. In fact, i made it last week for my hubby's birthday. it was gone by the next day. ya know how it is, cake for dessert, cake for before-bedtime snack, cake for breakfast, cake for brunch.... and before you know it, the cake is GONE!

  42. The cake is amazing. I love chocolate cake. My favorite chocolate cake receipe is Ina garten's chocolate cake. It doesn't take long to make and it is the perfect chocholatelyness. If you know what I mean. It isn't overly chocolaty. This party is making me hungry.
