Wasatch Quilt Shop Hop & Giveaway!

This year's Wasatch Quilt Shop Hop did not disappoint. In my opinion it was the best year ever and I enjoyed each shops interpretation of the blocks. It was fun taking pictures of 12 of the 15 shops that we visited yesterday. It took us over 13 hours and we almost made it to 13 of the shops but we were 13 minutes after it closed. The remaining two shops were too far away for us and we didn't have enough time to get there. We're sad about that, but that's the way it is. I'm just happy we were able to hit so many in one day. By the way, if the shop's have a link to their websites I've linked them for you, just click on the store's name and it will take you to their darling shops. We are sooo lucky here in Utah to have sooo many wonderful quilt shops.

Announcing My 2nd Annual
Quilt Shop Hop Giveaway

This has been a fun tradition for me and my friends for many years now and I wanted to have another giveaway to celebrate all of the creativity that exists here in Utah. Of the 13 quilts we saw I decided to pick Three of my Favorite Quilts. Each of these quilts were designed by the owner's of each quilt shop and were designed and made by them (owner's), their staff, and/or with the help of their staff (I think I covered it all the variables on that).

Here are the Rules:
  • Pick your favorite quilt then leave a comment telling me which number quilt you liked and if your favorites are my favorites I'll put your name in for the Quilt Shop Hop Giveaway.
  • I don't like to leave anyone out so, if you don't pick one of my favorite quilts you're name will still go in for the 2nd prize that I'm also giving away.
  • The Giveaway will be open until Monday, June 22nd at 12 midnight. I will then draw two names for the two prizes which I will show you when I reveal the names of the two winners.
Here's how it works . . .
I've posted a picture of the Quilt Shops store fronts with a number attached right by the shops name. You will then see a quilt picture of the store's interpretation of the quilt theme which is, "Around the Town".

#6 Quilt Etc. in Sandy

(no store front picture, sorry I missed this one)

I got distracted here and missed a picture of Quilt Etc.'s store front because I heard my name being called as I was getting ready to take a picture of the store. So this picture will have to suffice. I ran into one of my blogging/quilting friends Nedra of Cactus Needles. She was up visiting from St. George doing the Quilt Shop Hop with some of her friends. We were hoping to run into each other during the shop hop and we had even traded cell phone number's. It was so fun meeting Nedra in person and giving each other a big hug. After we hit a few other quilt shops Nedra, Judie, and their friend Beth met up with Me and my friend Jackie at Zupa's for lunch. Lunch was yummy and the company was wonderful. We could've visited for hours. This picture is taken by the house next door to the quilt shop and belongs to the quilt shop owner, Pat. I love Pat and all of her staff and that's where I taught classes for a few years. I LOVED it and when I have more time I would love to work there again.

  7. I am having a hard time deciding between #6 and #1, guess 6 wins. It was hard to pick one as they are all so nice. I would love to be able to do a shop hop like that, but my arthritis would never let me do it. LOL

  15. I love #2. I'm surprised they allowed you to take pictures of the quilts. We aren't allowed at our hops. Probably because they are selling a postcard with a picture of all the quilts on it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. They're all beautiful, but #1 caught my eye and I like it the best.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I love the #2 quilt!!! I love all the stars and how they quilted the house blocks!! (I know the quilting technique has a name but it has slipped my mind) ;o) Thanks for having the great giveaway!!

  19. 6 is my favorite and is followed by 2 and then 11. I appreciate all of them and it was difficult to choose, but you said we HAD to choose....so I'll stick with 6! You are indeed lucky to have so many quilt shops in your area.

  23. Ok I will never get to all of them but I'm so so happy to see the shops through your eyes. I love all the quilts. So incredibly hard to pick a favorite!! Thimbles quilt is my avorite. I adore the trip around the world surrounded by all the houses/stores. And I do love Broadbents, the colors and fabrics are so pretty. I did see that one up close and personal. And I really like it. It is hard to choose just one because they are all really lovely. Darling darling quilts. Super. I think you are right. These are the best ones yet. Hope to see you tomorrow?

  24. Oh wow, this is really hard. They are all so individual!

    I like #5, 6, and 12 but I am going to say you like #5 :-)

  25. How fun to stumble across your blog--and just in time for a giveaway! I like #2 the best. It's simple and so effective. Sometimes, for me, simple is best.

  35. For the One Millionth time, I'm going to say how LUCKY you are to be bombarded by such fantastic inspiration. We don't even have ONE quilt shop like any of those, let alone 13 of them. It looks like your hop was a fabulous success -- I can't believe you managed to make it to so many in one day -- especially when you went all the way to Brigham City! And how fun to meet up with Nedra!

    Anyway, Here are my favorites:
#9 Whimsy, 'cause I'll never give up on my inexplicable obsession with Whimsy ;-; ,
#6 Quilt Etc. 'cause you're partial to that one and it's just darn cute, and
#5 Thimbles and Thread 'cause I accidently clicked on it and when it's magnified, the details make for an adorable quilt! (And besides, you like that one too -- I can tell LOL.)
And I'm giving Corn Wagon the runner up award. ;-) I hope I get to see them all next month! ;-)

  36. I've never had the desire to do the shop hop until your post. Thank you.
    I really adore #4.

  37. I love #6. It reminds me of my mom's little village that she puts out every year.
All of these quilts are really beautiful. thanks for sharing with us.

  38. They are all soooo great.. but if I had to pick favorites, I would say:
    #2, #6, #9

  39. #2 is my favorite. I am always drawn to stars. Funny thing, saw my sister has posted and she picked the same one! Thanks for all the great pics.

I am really lovin quilt #5!
Thank you for sharing your pictures :)

  43. #6 quilt from Quilts ETc is by far my favorite - it looks like a little village with all those cute buildings and the way it was designed. I haven't made it to any of the shops this year - although I was at Village Dry Goods for my rug hooking meeting on Tuesday. Looks like you had lots of fun! (Especially meeting up with Nedra!)

    ReplyDelete
  44. My favorite is #7. It has a 1930s
or 1950s feel to the design. It is warm and inviting. Trish Chesterfield, VA

    ReplyDelete
  45. I have to agree with you, it was a great Shop Hop this year! All of the quilts were outstanding but I have to say that #5 was probably my favorite just because of all the little piecing. It just looked "happy" too with the brighter colors. I loved several others though too. This was hard to pick just one!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Toss up between #2 & #12, so I am guessing #2.

    ReplyDelete
  47. If only I had more money for gas, I would love to do the Shop Hop. I guess I can stop by the shop in Logan. Anyways, my favorite was #5. Very cute!! Closely followed by #4.

    ReplyDelete
  48. My favorite is #5, Thimbles and Threads, but it was hard to choose. What I liked about the quilt is how all the buildings popped out with the details. I wish I could have gone to the shophop, I just moved far far away from the Salt Lake Valley.

    ReplyDelete
  49. What a lot of fun! All the quilts are so wonderful and each is so charming. It was hard to choose...

My favourite quilt is #9 Whimsy Cottage's. I've a thing for trees and I just love that interpretation of the village green. And what is with that caution tape and the crime scene - hilarious. They really got in to the spirit of the Shop Hop. I'd like to visit that police department any day!

A close second was #6 of Quilt Etc. Just love that dinosaur in the hills!

I'm so jealous that you have such a fun annual activity that you can share with many quilters. So glad you had so much fun and caught up with fantastic people.

    Hugs - Shari

  50. I loved #4...tragically did not make it around to get all of the patterns, though, so I won't be able to reproduce it without a lot of work.....

  51. What a FUN day!!! I can't wait to get to Utah (in 2 weeks! YAY!) a stop at some of these stores!!! :)
I LOVE #5....I have an antique around the world quilt. I hhave always been facinated by that pattern! :)
    Thanks for the fun giveaway...

  52. Are you kidding me? My head just exploded trying to decide which one I liked best! That's like asking which of your children is your favorite! LOL! I've narrowed it down to #2 and #5; I think I'll pick #2 as MY favorite, though, just because it's a miniature size AND because I think the setting puts more emphasis on the building blocks. Although, darn it, #5 is awfully eye catching, isn't it?!

Aside from all that, though, you've brought back fond memories for me of a mini quilt retreat my friend Kairle hosted--we were based in Lehi and visited several of the shops. Don't you absolutely LOVE Broadbents for all the "stuff" they have?! I wish I could have brought the whole store back to Sacramento with me! Quilts, Etc, brought in a lunch for us when we visited. Great shops and wonderful people!

    ReplyDelete
  53. My most favorite is #6 at Quilts Etc. I also like #8 at Elaine's Quilt Block and #3 at Stitching Corner. I live by Logan and wish I would have made it to the shop that was doing it. Which store was it, probably Stylish Fabrics/Bernina. I just found your blog and I'm really liking seeing quilts and things close to home!! I've been to some of these shops and really like what they have to offer. Cindy

  54. Hi Kim, I have enjoyed you girls adventure through all the quilt shops. It was so much fun, just didn't have all the laughter that went on, that I know ya had.
So many favorites but I guess I would have to go with #5 Thimbles & Threads Draper. Seems to be the one I keep going back to. Love houses and old stores on quilts and runners.
Rest up and start stitchen all you saw,
    Bonnie

  55. Hi Kim, How fun to visit so many shops!! And the icing on the cake...visiting with Nanette and Nedra!!
    Ok..my favorite is 4, no.. 12, wait...#9...ok 12...wait...#9 final answer!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Saw #12 today and it became my new favorite quilt. I like that they put their barn block in the middle. The picture doesn't do the colors justice.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I will pick number 5 because of the bright colors and incredible details but there are many others that just touch my heart and that I would love to make! Thanks for sharing all of the pictures!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I think #2 is my favorite, with #9 as a close second. I'm pro-whimsy.

    ReplyDelete
  59. You CAN'T limit me to just one, I have to choose #2 and #4. Sorry it's just too hard!

    ReplyDelete
  60. My favorite is #5. I love how the houses are a border around the trip around the world pattern. So cute!! Thanks for putting all the shops and their quilts in one post. Almost makes me feel like I got to shop along with you!

    ReplyDelete
  61. What a treat, or is it a torture ;-), having to choose one from all the beauties you have shown us.

I think #6 of Quilt Etc is my most favourite. I have to confess, though, that the Whimsy Cottage's #9 and #2 of Corn Wagon Quilts could have easily swapped places with it. And I almost forgot #4 of American Quilting.

To summarize, I would love to have them all! Is there a way this can be arranged ;-) ?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Number 1 is my favourite. What a great assortment of quilts and shops. Next year I think I have to plan on heading down to Utah for the Shop Hop. Yu have such great shops and such variety. Thanks for sharing all the pictures.

    ReplyDelete
  63. V. here... I choose quilt # 12. I cannot resist a white picket fence around houses. Thanks for the great shop hop. Wish I could have attended! v.

    ReplyDelete
  64. What a great shop hop! Thanks for the great photos. My favorite is number twelve #12. It is a quilt that had a lot of time and effort into it.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I love them all, too, but for some reason #4 was my favorite. I sorta have a love for houses in quilts. I don't really know why, but they appeal to me for some reason.
