At the bottom of the hill when you come into our neighborhood you will find a very little pond (it can't be more than 6 feet by 10 feet). Well, for a few years now we've had these two ducks that like to come and visit. It's like their very own little resort. It's been fun watching them. So, this year we've seen them together and then separate. It made you start thinking that something was up. My husband even commented that maybe they were taking turns sitting on eggs.
Well,
Our suspicions were confirmed yesterday when we drove by and saw FOUR little ducklings swimming with their mama. It was so sweet and I made my husband turn around and get my camera so I could catch the moment. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
How sweet! It's so fun seeing little babies with their mama's.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this. Most ducks mate for life AND return to the same nesting site year after year, so be on the lookout for them in years to come!!! Also take photos as the little ones get bigger...which happens pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteNow that was pretty special! Thank you for such a lovely post, Kim!
ReplyDeleteThose are the sweetest pictures! How fun for you to get to watch these little ducklings grow!

ReplyDeleteThey are so cute!! We had a mama and 15 babies in the courtyard at school. One of the custodians gathered them up last week and took them to the local pond so the kids wouldn't bother them.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww! How precious ... I love spring & the rebirth of everything ...

ReplyDeleteJust last week we were on a nature preserve and they taught us what types of nests the rangers build to protect the different types of ducks -- fascinating!
What a cute little family. How fun to have that near your home.
